If you have friends with either, I'd go with what they have. If that isn't a factor, I recommend PS4. I have both and I rarely use the Xbox.
I don't feel like there is any noticeable difference in games. I've played Madden, NBA, and the new Call of Duty on both systems and there is little to no difference. The quality of online play is pretty close to the same with both systems. Xbox has more popular exclusives, it seems, though the only one I play is Forza. PS4 is pretty much strictly a gaming system while Xbox has a ton of multimedia features. I haven't used any of them, so not sure how well they work. Since I don't think there is any big differences between the two in regards to gaming, I'd get the system that the majority of your friends have. If that isn't a factor, I'd go with the system that you can get the best deal on.
I really don't play video games online with friends very often. We all used to play call of duty and Halo and stuff like that together, but the older we've gotten, the less time we've had for that sort of stuff. I assume the main reason you play your PS4 and never touch your Xbox one is because your friends play PS4, right? It sounds like the Xbox might be my best choice.
I was under the impression they didn't. utvol can probably shed some light. If they do, the decision is getting easier.
