Im trying to imagine what kind of statement John Peterson or John Shumaker puts out if this happened to UT during their tenures

We wouldn’t have been given this treatment. This is Alabama favoritism.

 

I assume that if we had beaten USC Jr we would have been left out because Hooker got injured.

 

Change the name on the jersey from Alabama to Mississippi State.

This never even gets talked about.

 

I know this will never happen, and it might not even be possible. But I would LOVE to see FSU and the Government of the State of Florida lay into the CFP (whoever owns it) with about 10000 lawyers, filing cease and desist orders left and right. Sue until you have no money left. And tie this shit up in courts so that this season's bowl games never get played.

It is probably not possible (cases would get tossed before they even got to the judge) and would be suicide for FSU sports, but hot damn, this is corrupt.

NVM, the colleges own the CFP, apparently, so they would basically be suing themselves.

This has little to nothing to do with their commissioner. This is all about $$$. If what happens on the field doesn’t matter, commissioners pleading their case certainly doesn’t either.

TLDR get in price for SEC chip costs more than all other P5 prices combined

 

The announcers yesterday for every game that had playoff implications were making a case for the current team playing to get in except for the FSU game. They were actively campaigning against them making it while FSU defense was putting up a masterclass in how to overcome starting a 3rd string, true freshman QB. It was nauseating.

 

ESPN has rights to ACC and SEC. They know who pays the bills.

 

This has always been somewhat a beauty pageant, but since Mack Brown's pleading to be ranked higher than Cal, it's gone to astronomical proportions.

And it's not a bug in the sport, it's a feature.

 

They already said that they are too good for the ACC.

 

Peterson was at least a semi-pro baseball player so he'd at least been annoyed.

Shumaker would have said it was a great thing because we don't want to be known as a football school and it would allow the student-athletes to focus on their studies.
