I love watching well coached football at any level of the game, and South Dakota State just put on a clinic in the 2 minute drill. 64 yards in a minute ten and didn't use a timeout.

If Sankey thinks the SEC has less access to the playoffs with 8 and an automatic 1 than with 4 at large, he's just stupid. It's a push, at worst. Pushing the 12 team format is just poisoning the well from moving away from 4. It's a false choice. That they are still talking about poll rankings in that article shows that the 8 team format flies right over their head. The whole point would be to minimize the role of polls for P5 teams, without totally eliminating them. Every year, the SEC champion would go to the playoffs no matter what. It would make the potential big upset in the championship game more meaningful more years. And the favorite could still get one of the remaining at larges.

 

It's 4 still if they are picking between 4 and 12. This is a vehicle for changing as little as possible.

No, it is not. There is the P5 and then the non P5's including Notre Dame. That isn't a playoff, it's a rigged system.

 

I don’t think there are 8 challengers for the title but i think 8 is enough to make everybody feel like they have a way in.

 

It will give us a lot of boring beat downs but there will be some epic games that come from it. I’m sure itll never happen but the fix for the playoff is all but finale should be played on higher ranked team’s campus.

 

1. 4 more games = more money
2. Makes getting a top 4 seed still important because of the BYE
3. Makes 5-8 important for homefield in first round.

I just wish we could wait until we get competitive semifinals before we start talking about expansion.

 

I agree, As much as I loathe the idea of expansion, I do like the idea of byes to keep the regular season as relevant as possible.
