yeah just like USAA is "non profit." take a look at the salary and benefits of the employees and then tell me they are non profit.
I have friends that work for non profits. they don't make significantly more than people who work in the private sector in similar positions. hell they probably make less. now there are exceptions like the ****ing cfa institute, but getting rich as an employee is hardly generally considered a perk of being a non profit employee. I was recruited by USAA. their benefits are INSANE. it's basically like having a public pension. and they pay VERY competitively. I'd be working there if they didn't want me to move to san diego.
When I owned my own business every Friday was a [dadgum] hassle. I had a business account with BBT and kept a decent amount in there as a reserve. Come every Friday at 5:00, I would have to get my checks approved by the branch manager. This went on for what seemed like forever. Eventually I got fed up with it and told the branch manager that I'll close my account and quit banking here if I'm going to have to do this once a week. Hope this got resolved for you. Sounds like major league bullshit.
So the hate is an elitist thing. That's the great thing about the free market, just go somewhere else and do your business. I wouldn't hate them for offering goods at a low price, which helps the poor and everyone else.
I'm hardly an elitist. But some of the people there are pure scum. The one close to my house here in Atlanta isn't bad at all. The one by East Towne Mall and Clinton Highway are full of the trashiest rednecks you can imagine. Plus as someone else pointed out, it's s damn hassle every time. Anytime I've made it out of there in under 30 minutes I feel like I've accomplished something.
I got it resolved about 2 days after the post. After getting in touch with the regional director personally and then sending him that timeline on the first page he immediately fixed the problem in about an hour. He also came down from Chattanooga the next day to personally have a "training opportunity" with the branch manager who created all of this problem.
