Shreveport is under a hurricane warning.

    That's crazy.

East Houston got a bit I think. Amazing what a turn can do.

The NHC 3.5 day forecast was off by only a kilometer. That's really something.

I look at that track and I'm like "how in the hell am I not in my backyard cutting up downed trees today?"

What happened to the first one, or was this the first one? I don’t really keep up with these things

I had thought Marco died, but I guess I’m not really sure either.

Which makes me wonder, is it possible for two hurricanes to merge into one?

It basically fizzled as it was sheared to death and then Laura absorbed a lot of the tropical remnants.

As bad as it is, it's not as bad as I was expecting

Im pretty sure there aren’t many folks who line in that East of Cameron area that got flat nailed.

It seemed to hit places not many people were at, at least

    Next up - Delta!

Yeah Delta could take off now. Low shear and fairly warm water (not as much as a month ago though). Positive is forecast keeps sliding west. As long as it stops here it will hit a less populated area but unfortunately similar to Laura.

It's amazing how quick she starts to fall apart when she gets over land though.

She was already very disrupted going in last night. Hit shear right in the middle of an eyeball replacement cycle and lost a ton of internal structure. Otherwise Inthink she would have handled the peninsula just fine.

Forecast is a high shear environment and weakening storm at landfall in LA as well.

We just sent half our workforce to Louisiana. Our shitty trucks broke down twice on the way up so far

This son of a gun Zeta is currently just 1 mph short of a Cat 3 and has a chance to get there before landfall. In late October!

A fast moving, strengthening major hurricane will pack a serious punch. Wind and surge are the threats here.

The trough that’s bringing cold weather to Texas slowed down and instead of shearing and weakening the hurricane, it set up perfectly to provide northerly outflow along the frontal boundary. This provides a healthy heat engine effect leading to today’s strengthening.
