Jesus. Way worse than I imagined. Devastating. Gonna have land slide and sediment issues this winter and spring, too.
We have some customers in that area, plus a guy I work with that lives in Pigeon Forge. From everyone I've talked to, it's really bad. One guy said, "However bad you imagine it is from what's been reported, it's worse". Terrible situation.
Current list. I think hq is ok. http://www.wbir.com/news/local/gatlinburg-fires-whats-damaged-destroyed-and-intact/357891924
How did this start? On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being nothing left, at all, anywhere in Gatlinburg, how bad is it? It's been hard getting solid info in Europe.
The strip and downtown are apparently fine. Lots of homes are destroyed. Some claims of arson, but I don't think they can possibly know that at this time.
Previous fires + ridiculous wind It's kind of hard getting solid info here. Downtown is remarkably ok but LOTS of damage in the vicinity of the aquarium
Lots of stuff got thrown out there on the internet that wasn't true if you can believe that but it's bad.
Also throw in the wind also helped cause new ones when power lines were knocked over. Just a total mess.
I'm curious if the chairlift was destroyed. I can't imagine it made it through without some damage after seeing all the fires on that hill.
