Good God ... I seriously just got into a shouting match with my father (who I think has gone completely off the deep end) about this Saturday night over dinner at my parents house. He says, "hey, come to the basement and let me show you something." We go down, and he opens up this false bookcase door thing to reveal a 10X36 "bunker" with sealed buckets of rice, beans, and all kinds of water and dried goods. I just looked at him in disbelief for a minute and then asked him if he had lost his damn mind. He didn't take it well. That said, if you need me in six weeks, I'll be in dad's bunker.
My dad has stocked up on guns and ammo for the last few years. He thinks America is about to hit rock bottom. It's a very scary thing to think about. I'm not naive enough to believe that it's impossible.
If there was Fox News, the internet and message boards back then, the amount of conspiracy theories and demagoguery would be staggering.
I do like watching doomsday preppers. Some of those cats are really smart, but really crazy. If all your dad has is some beans and water stocked up, I don't think that's too big of a deal.
