Look, I'm still not 100% convinced Canada exists. This could all be a big ruse to keep the game going that it's real when it's actually not. To date I can't find a reason why smoke is everywhere, so it's just increasing my skepticism it actually exists.

Had a teeth cleaning Monday and they saw something they didn't expect on the x-ray, had to get a filling that turned into a root canal on Tuesday.

During phase 1 of the root canal, they found a vertical crack that meant they may not be able to crown it. Had to get a special CT scan today.

The doctor decided it wasn't down into the root and we can try to crown it, but said i would want to keep nuts out of the left side of my mouth going forward. Reflexively I immediately replied "no problem doc, they never get past my chin." She didn't find it funny but I may have cost her assistant their job. Anyway, happy Pride month I guess.

Whew. Scrolled onto a video during a Teams meeting, and the speaker paused. Thought for a second they were looking for who was treating them to Gangsta's Paradise.

 

Wife just had that same treatment done to the tune of 4 grand plus.

 

Grand total will be south of 1000 out of pocket, I'm not mad. Because we are conditioned to this hellscape.

 

About half of it was the CT scan.

 

Geez. I had a crown last year more than that.

 

Well maybe I am forgetting something. It was 400 for the scan and like 300 to finish the root canal and crown it.

 

We also seem to be saturated with high quality dentistry, competition is fierce.

 

Unfortunately I recently ended an 8 year run of essentially zero out of pocket costs. I effed up my knee (it’s gonna be fine but seemed serious at first) several months ago and had to get an MRI and see a specialist. I can afford the bill but it was the first real one I’ve had, and even if you know what’s coming you’re just like f**k me this is preposterous.

 

Why is something that was invented in 1973 still cost so much to have done?

 

Ya what does irk me is i could not get the crown without a scan but insurance doesn't cover the scan. So I would just get a tooth pulled and cause problems going forward. Luckily, the place knocked off a good chunk of the bill since insurance didn't cover it, since insurance will only pay them like 80% of the actual cost or whatever anyway.

Insurance companies suck.
