It was a rough weekend, my wife's grandfather is eat up with cancer. He's been given 4 months, Sunday was probably the last big family dinner with him. I don't expect him to make it that long.

He's been great to me, I hate to see it happening.

Youngest grandson got nominated for HS Player of the Week last week for his 6-0 record in his Singles tennis matches so far.

He was in 1st place voting for first day or two by a pretty good amount.

As an old man, ignorant in the ways of the interwebz voting, I got to witness first hand the vagaries of bots.

Guy #2 contingents got his bots cranked up. I watched 20-1 votes getting posted. Took 24 hours to catch/pass/climb out of reach. Then I watched Guy #3 contingents get his bots cranked up. Same scenario. Got up one morning and checked. Guy #3 had surpassed Guy #2. Both were sitting at over 30-1 votes over my grandson's old-school family/friends method. There was over a 20k vote differential. Crazy.

Anyway the sponsoring agent sent out note saying they had caught a nominee using bots and the results would be investigated and delayed.

Bottomline Guy #3 bots were better than Guy #2 bots. So Guy #3 got caught. Guy #2 used his bots early and turned them off letting Guy #3 pass. Guy #2 won the voting.

Grandson came in 2nd, the old school way. I'm still very proud. Plus he won his singles match yesterday and he is still undefeated. Not too shabby for a kid who never played tennis until his freshman year.

How do flat earthers explain the different angles the eclipse is going to go across the US from 2017 until now since they are different seasons?

Guess it will be earthquake discourse for the next few days at work. Random EQ questions with no clear answer because they are so abstract. "How many light bulbs will burn out sooner due to this shaking?" "Is "it" safe?"

Everything is slowly crumbling all the time from the moment it is built or born. Nothing is ever completely safe. The questions' premises are flawed.

 

I got 2 led lightbulbs for front porch after burning thru reg light bulbs all the time. These suckers have been going for years.

 

When the standards for light bulbs was changed in the early 2000's, there was a lot of hysteria about it and that it would be too expensive. Lighting has never been cheaper when factoring in the lifetime of the new lights. Forest for the trees. It is the same with toilets, shower heads, will be the same for stoves and cars.

For those of you with a finished basement, what kind of flooring do you have? When we bought our house, it had carpet. We ripped it out a few years back because the basement flooded during some really heavy rain/flooding and it's just been bare concrete that someone poorly painted at some point. It's never been an issue because I just use the basement to workout, but we are to the point that I need to make it a more usable space for everyone. I'm 99% sure we've remedied the flooding issue with new gutters, extending downspouts, and grading but I still have a worry in the back of my mind that I'm gonna spend money for flooring and it get ruined if it floods again.
