    Ya, I don't think that's true.

It happened to me in 09 when Obama's administration had the tax credit if you bought a home, but that's personal not business.

I've dabbled in real estate and own a business, I can't think of a time where I got back more than I paid on any of that (barring Covid stuff, which was abused by a lot)

I saw this analogy for someone like Trump with a lot of businesses. Imagine you take a weekend trip to Vegas at taxes are 10%. You hit Casino A and win 10K, when they cash you out you pay 1K in taxes. At Casino B you win 5K and pay another $500 in taxes. At Casino C you lose 20K and pay no taxes. At the end of the night Vegas balances the books and sees that, in total, you lost 5K, but have paid 1.5K in taxes. So you get refunded the 1.5K you already paid, as you have no positive taxable income (its not free money). You then get to carry the -5K forward to your next trip to offset any gains.

It's like the mafia. You pay enough or they take what you got and maybe beat you up if you fight back.

I think most people only know they make X this year and pay Y in taxes on it next year. 99% don't have losses, not enough to carry from year to year (which I think is ludicrous, but I digress).

A guy making 65k a year sees a guy supposedly making millions and paying $750 in taxes and it is legitimately confusing and maddening.

But I get there are all these avenues available to the wealthy that the middle class cannot take advantage of.

if you have tax losses you can carry them forward. It is true the wealthy are much more likely to use that.

Oh boy. Trump just skipped straight to the “pedophile Ron” thing. That’s pretty high up on the modern right escalation ladder.

Who could have possibly seen something like this coming?

This pedophile/groomer bullshit needs to stop. DeSantis and his admin has also employed groomer labeling, but it's ridiculous and dangerous no matter the target. I'm sick of it.

I agree with this in general

However, it’s hard for me to give the first shit about it happening to DeSantis. You reap what you sow, asshole

Oh, I can't stand the guy. Pretty much everything he does is virtue signaling. Folks who think he'd make a good president are in for a surprise. Get behind Haley unless/until someone better jumps in.

The guy is almost managing to make me have sympathy for Disney.

    Almost

But that should still tell you everything you need to know
