Don't know how well known Patterson Hood's name is, he's one of two leaders for the Drive By Truckers,who've over the years sang a lot about the South. Hood had the following article in the NYT, I enjoyed it.

Always been a fan of the Truckers. I feel very proud to have supported them after reading that.

 

They're good folks. I would have loved to seen what they might have accomplished had their relationship with Jason Isbell not soured and they stayed together for a few more years. I'm not as big of a fan of their stuff post Isbell.

 

[dadgum] lonely love is one of my favorite songs of all time.

 

They've got a lot of great songs. Outfit and Let There Be Rock are up there for me.

 

They're not a great live band though or the one show I went to theirs wasn't that impressive

 

The only place I ever saw them was at Sundown in the City. Helluva time but that was never a great place to see a show as far as sound goes.

I know. I just mean if somehow they managed to stay together, with an Isbell that wasn't more or less trying to drink himself to death.

I'm not saying Bombs Over Baghdad doesn't deserve a place in history.

 

I can see the conundrum for the NAACP chapter of Atlanta. They are looking for a person of color to offset the Confederate representation on the side of the mountain. If only there was a prominent black person from Atlanta. You know, someone famous that may have won a prominent award, like a Nobel Prize or something, or has a holiday named after him. Something along those lines. Oh well, just get the guys who sang "Rosa Parks" if they don't actually have Rosa Parks.
