The diamond was the best part. Also the shadows that were cast before and after totality were in cresent form.
I noticed the temperature thing, as well. Nashville was blazingly hot today and the temp dropped noticeably at totality to a very pleasant level. I was near downtown and clouds threatened to ruin it, but opened up a hole about 4 minutes before darkness hit to great applause. It was cool. My kids enjoyed it and the event was a great tool for teaching them about astronomy. I did freak out my six year old by telling them that the earth would be uninhabitable in a billion years or so. It seems six year olds have trouble understanding the concept of a billion years in terms of their own lives.
Far as I'm concerned, if a man doesn't like a moon pie, he's probably with ISIS. Toss that sucker in the microwave for a quick ten seconds, you've got yourself a real American treat.
I thought the eclipse was really cool. It wasn't life changing but definitely a good time with the kids.
That was easily the coolest thing I've ever witnessed in my life (feel free to judge). It was beautiful. Our school system was open today, and we just made an event out of the entire day. We took that kids out around 1 to prepare for it. There was some kind of app our tech department had downloaded that sort of guided you through what was happening. They had that playing over the audio speakers we setup outside. All in all - I feel incredibly blessed to have witnessed that.
