New England style IPAs are where it's at. Market is now flooded but that is ok with me. I can take is easy with Going Coastal, a coconut IPA by Sweetwater or go ham with some Bearded Iris or Stone DDH IPAs. There is a large difference between those beers and many, many good choices in between.
Im not a huge fan of IPAs either. Had a few that were ok and a bunch that were bleh. I kinda agree with cotton. It’s just people cramming in as much hops as they can and saying Hey! Craft!
I’ve had some I like, but I’ve had plenty that I just refuse to believe anyone without damaged taste buds could enjoy.
I go through phases... Like IPAs in the spring and fall, porters and stouts in winter and lagers and ales in the summer. Really only drink whiskey in the fall. Tequila in the summer and not a lot of liquor in the winter or spring. I swear I'm not a drunk.
There’s basically not a beer I don’t like. German beers would be an exception. Try not to drink Heffs if I can help it, and some of the bocks are touch and go, though I like Pils and Helles. The best NE IPA in Knoxville is at Abridged. Hell, they’re probably best at everything they do. I probably would say I prefer NE to West Coast IPAs if forced.
I've got a whole mess of Bourbon Counties and Eclipses right now. Also have a couple 2018 KBS I'm waiting til April to crack and a Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Rasputin (last year's was fantastic, not sure about this year's)
