oci? late 80s strip was fun and rowdy. kinda anything goes. oci was the dark drunk finishing spot at times. Back booth near bathroom was the best get. Cheese bings after quite a bit of beer always hit the spot. Then years later i actually found out their food wasn't bad.
Oci, tap room, hawkeyes, library, lap was the circuit for a couple years, then old city started pulling older students away from campus.

 

Never. The library was Moose’s, which didn’t last long, then a revolving door of things. But I didn’t work that scene anyway.

 

And place by Gus's with 10 cent wing and beer specials

 

Moose’s was pretty cool. Saw a few decent concerts there.

We went to:

Charlie Peppers
Cool Beans
Mike and Willy’s
Campus Pub.

 

Library used to have Velcro Pygmies, mel and the party hats and other good college bands. Was a fun spot. Go see some Tall Paul acoustic midweek. The best of times. Lived in a dining room behind a curtain at woodmeade and bank account never over $200. And no worry about it.

 

My go to was Cool Beans but I did venture down to OCI on occasion.

Mike & Willy's, totally forgot that was there.

Saw Vanilla Ice during his hardcore phase at Moose's.

 

I'm going to put one of these up next Halloween for the trick or treaters. I think if I make it kinda like \_/ and enclose the top in a light resistant heavy fabric, I can have a dark room even if it isn't dark outside.

 

I dont recall cool beans or mike and willys but didnt hit the strip much after 93. We would go old city or out west to a bar. Cant recall name. Popular blonde female country singer was bartender there pre famous.

Mike and Willy’s went in where The Library/Moose’s was and closed roughly 3 days later iirc

 

Moose’s turned into Buffalo Wild Wings.

Mike and Willy’s was up the street, I think where the parking lot next to Moe’s is now. It had several names, none of which seemed to last more that a school year.

 

Campus Pub was at the corner of 18th and Lake. They 100% got shutdown for selling underage. The owner cashed out and they razed it for those apartments there now.

 

I can personally vouch that they did not care one bit.
