The WH says the revocation was due to inaccurate and frenzied comments about Russia. Trump himself has linked his decision to the investigation itself.

 

Also saying today that they will fight any Mueller subpoena to the Supreme Court

 

I think there is a dark black line between "things I thought it was ok to say when I was young" and "things I think it's ok to say as an adult".

Everything is a monument to himself and his phony patriotism. It reminds me of the time he told his story of having an American flag at one of his homes, violating some local ordinance. When told to take it down, he decided to fly a bigger flag higher. It wasn't done to be patriotic, but because he was told not to do so and wanted everyone to know it was him.
