Okay. So no super bowl world champions, no MLB World Series, no Stanley Cup World champions, etc. Out with all of it.

I see it the other way. If a team from another league thinks it can challenge the winner of one of these leagues, they should drop the gauntlet. Let's see it. Exhibition.

Are nba champs called world champs or nba champs? Either way, there’s not another non all star team in the world that would beat an nba or nfl team. Assume same for baseball but wondering if a Japanese team could win a series.

It’s simple really. When a country is the winner of back-to-back world war championships, then they may refer to the annual winners of their domestic professional sports leagues as “world champions”.

People actually objecting to the harmless moniker traditionally used by professional American sports leagues to describe the championship team are being ridiculous. These folks must shriek in terror when Freddie Mercury and the entire crowd are joyfully belting “we are the champions OF THE WORLLLLDDD!” every time a team clinches a title on their home turf. This is just not a serious thing to complain about

The MLB world series winner and the Japanese domestic baseball league winner should square off in a series each year to determine the real world champion of the baseball universe. Maybe we can have the other pro basketball league champs play a March Madness style tournament with the annual NBA championship team to determine who is the real world champion of basketball too. Otherwise all the other league championship teams outside of the MLS are indeed the world champs of their sport practically speaking considering they are stand-alone entities.

And don't even get me started on the Olympics where the final medal count always proves to the world that we are indeed the "champions of the world" athletically.

USA in serious danger of losing in the semis of the FIBA World Cup. We aren't playing great defense, but, Jesus, Germany is just making every bullshit shot they are throwing up.

Yeah, we're losing this one. Terrible defense. Fouling three point shooters and just overall terrible.

Who cares? We probably have an entire team of better players from the US who didn't play in this tournament.

There's a not unlikely scenario in which nobody from this team plays in the Olympics for us next year. It's pretty likely that we will only see 2, MAYBE 3, at most.

Our only real issue is the 5. Joel Embiid solves that problem immediately if he commits to play for the US. And if he doesn't, Bam and Draymond are solid alternatives.

    Hell to the yeah.

Don't like losing Jrue, though. No Grayson in Milwaukee is a double win.

Yeah, that seems like a big loss. Dame's offense is obviously huge, but Holiday's defense has been top notch for them.
