Texas has a nice recruiting base, but it's a big state with some other programs emerging. Regardless, there isn't more talent there than the entire southeast. That entire region is pretty much Saban's playground right now. The only reason to leave would be an insane amount of money and Bama not matching it.

That television network is the biggest joke of all time. Who gives a shit that there's a channel, which almost nobody gets, where forty year old games and women's volleyball are shown?

It's getting bigger and with Saban they will be consistently a top 5 team and the network will benefit.

Yeah, people are going to clamor to watch mid week baseball games against UT-San Antonio and cooking shows with the coaches' wives.

If the longhorn network wasn't owned by espn it'd already be off the air

It was a nonsense project from the start. If the only live games you are going to show are the shitty ones no other provider wants, why would anyone other than a Texas diehard have any interest?

Yup. Works for the lakers or the Yankees, but that's a hell of a lot more than 2 or 3 games a year. They are also much bigger media markets than Austin. It was pure ego and Texas not wanting to share revenues.

Yankees and Lakers are national, hell even global, brands. Texas isn't.

Texas' footprint is a lot bigger than Austin.

Not big enough to merit it being anything other than a "you want, you pay for it" tier offering by any provider outside the southwest.

I always thought it was a ridiculous idea. I hope it fails.

Maybe Texas will hire away Butch.

That would be a problem at this point. I'm hoping for at least 4 years of good recruiting and stability. We may not win like I want to during that period, but I feel like its time to take a deep breath and at least make some kind of progress. I think Butch is capable of at least some progress - particularly with staff adjustments.
