Switching to a upper/lower split for the time being.

I've started working out early in the morning and I'm really enjoying it.

My wife and I have started walking/jogging. We do 4 miles every morning. Mostly walking, we jog as much as we can on our last lap. I want to add some weight training or a muscle building type workout into this. Maybe walk half that and then do weights ? Or something else ? Thoughts? Our main goal is weight loss and tone up. I need to lose about 20 pounds and she maybe 10. Both need toned up.

Down 20 pounds over the last 3 months doing nothing but eating less. Gonna have to start doing some exercises, need simple things I can do at home without a gym.

Push ups, squats, burpees, dips, planks, maybe gallon water jugs for biceps.

Do 2-3 full body workouts a week. Keep it simple with only a few movements.

This except ditch the jugs for a pull up bar. Lunges too.

leg pressed a few hundred lbs this week. Didn't press or squat for a couple decades due to the knee. New knee is $. I'll just always have skinny legs. High small calves and tiny ankles. Nothing I can do. Never will get my calf back from achilles tear

Like chavis said, up down with a jump straight up at the end. They're no fun.

Holy cow I'm feeling it lately. I'm almost out of breath at the end of workouts now.

I have never done snatch lifts before because of my shoulder. Decided to give single arm dumbbell snatches to work into it and they kick my ass. I've tried to work in more of the "functional" exercises.

Look into Turkish get ups. Start with a flat shoe(seriously). Great for shoulder health and strength.

As far as out of breath goes, I have to start doing some cardio asap. I get tired just doing sets of squats because my conditioning is crap.

I do these sometimes. Don't trust my back to do much else.

Have you tried kettlebell swings? I feel those working more than deadlifts.

Man y'all dont even know. Wanna know how bad it really is, go try a grappling or jujitsu class and somebody laying on top of you. Full blown panic.

ha it actually feels really good to me once you have it down.

Swings are great too. I started doing a lot of kettlebell movements last year.

    Strongfirst has great info,tutorials,etc.

Have you looked at T-Nation? Some of it is meathead talk but there's some really good research on there too

Agreed. Gotta sift through a shit-load of what essentially amounts to marketing for their supps too.
